The Kooks are still kicking!

Although missing from the music scene for quite a while, the multi-platinum selling guitar-pop band toured Europe this autumn and on their tour included the O2 Academy, Leeds. The gig, which was the last on their European tour, took place on the 18/12/11 as it had been rescheduled due to an illness in the band.
The tour coincided with the release of their new album ‘Junk of the Heart’ which was released on 12th September 2011 however The Kooks originally hit our iPod play lists with their debut album ‘Inside In/ Inside Out’ in 2006. This was then followed with the success of ‘Konk’ in 2008, which placed number one in the official UK album chart.
Formed in Brighton, the band consists of Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar) and Peter Denton (drums) but there have been numerous changes made to the starting line-up since the band began.
The Kooks, who have in the past been described as “a less severe Arctic Monkeys,” brought their high energy to Leeds and performed a range of hits which included ‘She Moves In Her Own Way’ and ‘Naive’ as well as introducing new hits such as ‘How’d You Like That’ and ‘Eskimo Kiss.’ The gig, as well as the tour itself, was a huge success and was enjoyed by all.
